Just like others, Mother Teresa also obtained her enlightenment in the foothills of Himalayas.
In the early on days of her life, she was fascinated by the real stories of missionaries working in Bengal. Mother Teresa arrived in India in year 1929 and began her Novitiate (a period of training or preparation to become a member of religious institute) in Darjeeling, near the Himalayan Mountains.
She was one of the most globally acclaimed Social Entrepreneur.
Mother Teresa founded the “Missionaries of Charity Foundation” in the year 2050. It later grew to 4500 + members & 1 million+ co-workers and reached 133 countries across the Globe. She has received two of the most prestigious global awards –Ramon Magsaysay Peace Prize & Nobel Peace Prize in 1962 and 1979 respectively. Besides these awards she also received Bharat Ratna in the year 1980 and with the “Saint – Title” from the Roman Catholic Church in Vatican City recently.
Mother Teresa opened a first of its kind of Home for people to die in dignity.
Mother Teresa opened the first home for dying in dignity in the city of Kolkata. She along with the support of Indian officials has converted an abandoned Hindu Temple into the “Kalighat Home for the Dying”. All dying people’s last rites were used to be performed according to their religions.
Mother Teresa was fluent in five languages including Bengali and Hindi.
Mother Teresa was an Indian citizen and had great affinity towards Bengal since her early days. She was fluent in Albanian, Serbian, English, Bengali and Hindi.
Mother Teresa was a prolific writer.
She has written many letters to her confessors and superiors for over 66+ years. People who have received her letters were of the opinion to showcase them publicly as they were mesmerised with the talks of wisdom however Mother Teresa denied each time as according to her showcasing the letter will make “People think more of her and less of Jesus”.
